An implementation of IoT LPWAN SCHC message fragmentation and reassembly

This extended abstract reports about the implementation of the fragmentation and reassembly mechanisms of the SCHC framework for Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs). The project aims to program the methods and routines described in the SCHC standard protocol for the fragmentation and reassembly mechanism while being independent of the LPWAN technology and remaining as an open-source project. The implementation addresses the ACK-on-Error mode, where an acknowledgement message is sent back to the sender device only when lost fragments are detected. Initial tests have been successful using a local communication setting with network sockets. Propuesta estratégica de mejora en la implementación de los estándares mínimos del Sistema de Gestión de la Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (SG-SST) en la empresa CATAM para el segundo semestre del 2019 y principios del 2020

La implementación de herramientas como el Sistema de Gestión de la Seguridad y Salud SG-SST en el Trabajo se ha convertido en un elemento clave de las empresas para lograr el mejoramiento continuo, mayor eficiencia y buenos niveles competitivos en el mercado. La investigación realizada permitió conocer como CATAM ha llevado a cabo el proceso de implementación del Sistema de Gestión de la Seguridad y Salud para mejorar el bienestar de sus empleados. Mediante la consulta de varios autores que han indagado sobre el tema y la realización de una entrevista se pudo conocer el estado de cumplimiento de la compañía respecto a lo exigido en la Resolución 0312, lo cual permitió la creación de un plan de mejorar para darle solución a las falencias detectadas. Identificar estas oportunidades de mejora beneficiara a los trabajadores de CATAM al ofrecerles un lugar más seguro para desempeñar sus labores con el diseño de un Sistema eficiente que prevenga accidentes y enfermedades laborales.The implementation of tools such as the Health and Safety Management System SG-SST has become a key element of companies to achieve continuous improvement, greater efficiency and good competitive levels in the market. The research carried out allowed us to know how CATAM has carried out the process of implementing the Health and Safety Management System to improve the well-being of its employees. Through the consultation of several authors who have studied on the subject and the conduct of an interview, we were able to know the compliance status of the company with respect to what is required in Resolution 0312, this allowed us to create an improvement plan to solve the flaws detected. Identifying these opportunities for improvement will benefit CATAM workers by offering them a safer place to perform their work with the design of an efficient system that prevents accidents and occupational diseases

Development and Validation of a Mobile Application as an Adjuvant Treatment for People Diagnosed with Long COVID-19: Protocol for a Co-Creation Study of a Health Asset and an Analysis of Its Effectiveness and Cost-Effectiveness

Objective: To analyse the overall effectiveness and cost-efficiency of a mobile application (APP) as a community health asset (HA) with recommendations and recovery exercises created bearing in mind the main symptoms presented by patients in order to improve their quality of life, as well as other secondary variables, such as the number and severity of ongoing symptoms, physical and cognitive functions, affective state, and sleep quality. Methods: The first step was to design and develop the technologic community resource, the APP, following the steps involved in the process of recommending health assets (RHA). After this, a protocol of a randomised clinical trial for analysing its effectiveness and cost-efficiency as a HA was developed. The participants will be assigned to: (1st) usual treatment by the primary care practitioner (TAU), as a control group; and (2nd) TAU + use of the APP as a HA and adjuvant treatment in their recovery + three motivational interviews (MI), as an interventional group. An evaluation will be carried out at baseline with further assessments three and six months following the end of the intervention. Discussion: Although research and care for these patients are still in their initial stages, it is necessary to equip patients and health care practitioners with tools to assist in their recovery. Postlaunch evidence-generation studies for medical devices in Spain: the RedETS approach to integrate real-world evidence into decision making

The Monitoring Studies (MS) program, the approach developed by RedETS to generate postlaunch real-world evidence (RWE), is intended to complement and enhance the conventional health technology assessment process to support health policy decision making in Spain, besides informing other interested stakeholders, including clinicians and patients. The MS program is focused on specific uncertainties about the real effect, safety, costs, and routine use of new and insufficiently assessed relevant medical devices carefully selected to ensure the value of the additional research needed, by means of structured, controlled, participative, and transparent procedures. However, despite a clear political commitment and economic support from national and regional health authorities, several difficulties were identified along the development and implementation of the first wave of MS, delaying its execution and final reporting. Resolution of these difficulties at the regional and national levels and a greater collaborative impulse in the European Union, given the availability of an appropriate methodological framework already provided by EUnetHTA, might provide a faster and more efficient comparative RWE of improved quality and reliability at the national and international levels
